What is cosmetic dentistry?
Cosmetic dentistry includes several dental services that can completely change the appearance of your smile. Dr. Lipovetskiy can change everything from tooth color to shape, size, and tooth alignment for a smile makeover that you'll love. Following are some of the most common cosmetic dentistry procedures he performs:
Veneers are paper-thin sheets of porcelain or resin that cover the front and sides of your teeth. They can cover misshapen and crooked teeth or discolored and stained teeth to give you a bright, white smile with even teeth. Dr. Lipovetskiy uses porcelain veneers for a beautiful match to your surrounding teeth.
If part of your tooth has disintegrated or broken off because of a large amount of decay or if you've had a dental implant, you need a crown. Crowns completely cover the top and sides of your tooth and fit perfectly over what's left of a decayed tooth or over the implant. They're fabricated on a machine that uses input from a computer for an exact fit.
Sometimes old fillings just wear out. If you have a filling that needs to be replaced, Dr. Lipovetskiy can use an inlay, which is less expensive than a crown. It fits on the chewing surface your tooth and can be made from porcelain, resin, or even gold.
Onlays are similar to inlays but cover more of the tooth's surface; instead of only the chewing surface, onlays cover the edges and points of the tooth. They're strong and long-lasting.
Teeth whitening is one of the most common cosmetic dentistry procedures. Everyone wants a bright, white smile, but just like other parts of our body, our teeth are prone to wear and tear. If you drink a lot of coffee, tea, red wine, or soda--and that includes most people--you're more likely to need teeth whitening, because all of those beverages stain our teeth.
Dr. Lipovetskiy can complete the teeth whitening procedure in just about one hour using the proven Zoom! whitening system. He applies the Zoom! gel to your teeth and uses a special light to activate it quickly. You'll see the dramatic results immediately. If you prefer in-home whitening, Dr. Lipovetskiy takes impressions of your teeth and provides you with custom trays to use at home.
